Most of Linux users, having a dual boot operating system, face a problem of not able to write to NTFS partitions created by Windows operating system… the reason being NTFS partitions have “read only ” permissions.
A simple solution to this problem is a system tool - NTFS Configuration Tool .
Install and use NTFS Configuration Tool in linux -
( I’ll be using the example of Ubuntu 7.04 “Fiesty Fawn”, the one I am using nowadays …)
- Click on Applications/Add-remove.
- Type NTFS in the search box and select all available applications in show box.
- You will find NTFS Configuration Tool, select it to install and click apply.
- After the utility is installed click on Applications/System Tools/NTFS Configuration Tool.
- Check the required boxes and click ok.
Now your NTFS partitions have “read and write” permissions.

Eleven Things You Did Not Learn in School !!! June 8, 2007

Quoted By Mr. Bill Gates
Rule 1: Life is not fair-get used to it.
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make 40 Thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone, until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping-they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents’ generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. You have to do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one
Video Accelerator for Youtube: Reduce buffering problems and video interruptions or “hiccups”. June 1, 2007
Posted by Abhishek Thakur in Technical, Tips & Tricks !!!.7 comments
One of the worst parts of all online video playback is the wait.
I generally have a quite fast connection available and yet
I’m still waiting for files to playback. YouTube is one of the
worst offenders because their playback is designed to feed you small file chunks as you need them. Video Accelerator for YouTube solves this problem by placing multiple requests for file parts, getting files to load and playback faster than they would without
Video Accelerator for YouTube. By using this app, you spend more time watching video and less time waiting to watch video. A built-in search makes it easy to find videos from your desktop and bookmarking makes it easy to find videos you liked for a second viewing later. The premise is the same as other download accelerators - open more requests for the same file and get the whole thing faster. As of this writing,
Video Accelerator for YouTube only speeds up video playback times for Windows XP and Windows 2000, but Vista support should be coming soon.

Unique Video acceleration features:
Reduces “movie freezes” and “buffering” problems!
Accelerates streaming videos from YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion & Grouper!
Bookmarks videos you’ve recently accelerated, for easy replays!
Includes cool search tab feature for finding videos to watch around the web, right from your desktop!
Video Accelerator for iTunes (Premium) accelerates the download of iTunes movies, music videos and TV shows up to 10 times faster!
How does it work?
With SpeedBit Video Accelerator installed, your browser’s connection to specific streaming video server is being rerouted through the Video Accelerator Daemon. Unlike the normal browser connection, the Daemon uses a unique patent pending technology, that substitutes the single connection with a sophisticated multi-connection algorithm. The end result is an (up to) 5 times faster connection, which handles the cache buffering (the “preloading” of the movie) much more efficiently.

In Windows Xp, when programs stop responding we are forced to [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] > End Process. This tweak lets Windows automatically shut down hung programs :
- Open Registry Editor : Run > regedit.exe.
- Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
- Double click on string value AutoEndTasks and change its value to “1″.
- We can also set the timeout by double clicking string value WaitToKillAppTimeout and change the time (in milliseconds) before Windows kills the task.
